About the Product

Pterocarpus santalinus (red sandal) is a small to medium-sized deciduous tree valued for its deep red, highly prized heartwood used in traditional medicine, carvings, and dyes. It grows best in warm tropical climates with ambient temperatures around 25–35 °C and prefers well-drained sandy or rocky soils with moderate rainfall of about 600–1000 mm annually. Although native to the dry regions of southern India, it can grow in places like Kerala if planted in well-drained areas with plenty of sunlight and protection from excessive moisture. 🌳
