The tree prefers moderate to high humidity, well-drained fertile soil, and annual rainfall of 750–2000 mm, with a short dry period before flowering to enhance fruit set. It requires full sunlight for good flowering and fruiting and is sensitive to frost and waterlogged conditions, making Kerala’s monsoon climate suitable for its cultivation.
