Moovandan mango (Mangifera indica var. Moovandan) is a traditional South Indian mango variety known for its medium-sized, sweet, and aromatic fruits with fiberless pulp. It grows well in warm tropical climates like Kerala, with ideal temperatures between 24°C and 32°C. The tree prefers moderate to high humidity, well-drained fertile soil, and annual rainfall of 750–2000 mm, with a short dry period before flowering to improve fruit set. It requires full sunlight for good flowering and fruiting and is sensitive to frost and waterlogged conditions, making Kerala’s monsoon climate suitable for its cultivation.
