The tree prefers moderate to high humidity, well-drained loamy soil, and annual rainfall of 750–2000 mm, along with a short dry period before flowering. It requires full sunlight for optimal fruiting and is sensitive to frost and prolonged waterlogging, making Kerala’s monsoon climate suitable for its cultivation.
