It thrives in warm tropical climates like Kerala, with ideal temperatures between 24°C and 32°C. The tree prefers moderate to high humidity, well-drained fertile soil, and annual rainfall of 750–2000 mm, along with a brief dry period before flowering. It requires full sunlight for good fruiting and is sensitive to frost and prolonged waterlogging, making Kerala’s tropical monsoon climate favorable for its growth.
