Chandrakkaran mango (Mangifera indica var. Chandrakkaran) is a traditional South Indian mango variety valued for its sweet, juicy flesh and pleasant aroma. It grows well in warm tropical climates like Kerala, with ideal temperatures between 24°C and 32°C. The tree prefers moderate to high humidity, well-drained loamy soil, and annual rainfall of about 750–2000 mm, along with a short dry period before flowering for better fruit set. It requires full sunlight and is sensitive to frost and prolonged waterlogging, making Kerala’s monsoon climate suitable for its cultivation.
