Alphonso mango (Mangifera indica var. Alphonso) is a premium tropical fruit known for its rich, sweet, and aromatic flesh, highly prized in India and abroad. It grows best in warm tropical climates like Kerala, with ideal temperatures between 24°C and 32°C. The tree prefers moderate to high humidity, well-drained sandy loam soil, and annual rainfall of about 750–2500 mm, with a dry period before flowering to promote fruit set. It requires full sunlight and cannot tolerate prolonged waterlogging or frost, making Kerala’s climate suitable for its cultivation.
