The tree grows best with 1000–2500 mm of well-distributed annual rainfall, well-drained fertile soils, and full sunlight, while tolerating short dry periods. Regions like Kerala, with their hot, humid monsoon climate, offer suitable conditions for healthy growth and consistent fruiting.
