The Hybrid Ridge Gourd (Manisha) (Luffa acutangula) is a high-yielding F1 hybrid variety known for its vigorous vine growth, early flowering, and long, tender green fruits with well-defined ridges, making it ideal for both home gardens and commercial cultivation. Like most hybrid ridge gourds, it is bred for uniform fruit size, disease resistance, and consistent productivity. In tropical regions like Kerala, it thrives exceptionally well due to the warm and humid climate, as ridge gourd is naturally suited to such conditions. It requires full sunlight (6–8 hours daily), well-drained fertile soil rich in organic matter, and moderate but regular watering to maintain soil moisture without waterlogging, especially during heavy rains. Being a climbing vine, it also needs proper support like trellis or vertical structures for optimal growth and yield. Under ideal conditions, hybrid varieties begin harvesting within 40–50 days, producing continuous yields of tender fruits suitable for daily cooking.
