It grows well in tropical regions like Kerala, where ambient temperatures of 20°C to 30°C support healthy growth and fruiting. The plant thrives under warm, humid climatic conditions with annual rainfall of about 1000–2000 mm and requires well-drained loamy soil with full sunlight. With proper management practices, a tree can yield around 35–50 kg of fruits per year.
