Arinelli (Indian gooseberry), botanically known as Phyllanthus emblica, is a small deciduous tree that produces round, light green, highly sour fruits rich in vitamin C and widely used in traditional medicine. It grows best in tropical to subtropical climates with ideal temperatures between 20 °C and 35 °C and can tolerate heat up to 45 °C. The tree prefers full sunlight, moderate rainfall (600–1,200 mm), and well-drained soils. In regions like Kerala, its warm temperatures and humid conditions support good growth, provided proper drainage is maintained during heavy monsoon rains.
