The tree prefers moderate to high humidity, well-drained fertile soil, and annual rainfall of 750–2000 mm. Requiring full sunlight for optimal flowering and fruiting, it is sensitive to frost and waterlogging, making Kerala’s tropical monsoon climate ideal for its cultivation.
